Worth the Trek
Hi guys so for my third blog post I thought I would write about good places to visit near Glasgow. I know that doing the same old thing every weekend can get very boring and repetitive so sometimes the best thing to do is just to explore, get lost and find new places. Here I am going to share with you some adventures I have been on and places I would recommend going to for fun days out to get a little exercise and have fun with your friends and family. Most of these places are easy to get to in a car however public transport does allow for some.
If you have a spare day off or are looking for a day trip at the weekend then I would suggest a trip to the wonderful St Andrews. There is so much to do in the lovely town from wandering around the shops, visiting the beach and cathedral to just taking in the gorgeous scenery. Many of the local cafes are dog friendly which is always an advantage. There are also many food options when you are in the area such as your classic fish and chip shops, cosy Italians and even a Nandos- if you just want something quick and easy! I would also recommend possibly taking a trip into the Fairmont Hotel for an afternoon tea or even a relaxing spa treatment in their outstanding facilities.
Falls of Clyde
The falls of Clyde is a reserve up in New Lanark which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, nature trails, wildlife and visitors centre. I actually stumbled across this stunning landmark by mistake- but it was one of the best mistakes I have made! The Falls of Clyde is a perfect day out when the sun is shining and you are after some outdoor fun. There are big hills and trails to walk along and you can even take a bike up if you are really pushing yourself that extra mile. The visitors centre has a cute little shop where you can buy souvenirs, snacks and get some general information about the place from the staff. There is also an ice cream truck and a play park for toddlers if they are not quite appreciating the amazing scenery. I would highly recommend taking a trip out to the Falls of Clyde for a day trip, out with the dogs or even a spontaneous date with your partner. If you do you will see some beautiful sights such as these below.

Aberfoyle/ Loch Katrine
Aberfoyle and Loch Katrine are by far my favourite places to visit on those rare sunny days. They are just a short distance from one another meaning both of them can be visited in the one day. There are so many different activities to get up to in the areas and they are only under an hours drive from Glasgow. The most fun activity of them all is Go Ape! This is one for those adventurous people who are up for a bit of a thrill. Go Ape is located in Aberfoyle and it is an adventure zip wire course which is operated in the magnificent forest up in the tall trees. As you are bouncing and sliding from tree top to tree top you can take in the breathtaking views and wildlife passing by. For 2 people to enjoy this experience it comes to a total of £66 which I know is dear but it is most certainly worth it! It is a family friendly activity however if you are not wanting to join in you may take a stroll around the forest area instead, take a look inside the visitors centre or settle down on the grass at the top of the hill for a picnic.
Loch Katrine on the other hand is located right in the centre of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The best things to do when you arrive at the Loch are to have a picnic, hire bikes and cycle round taking in the scenery and of course to eat some ice cream!
I will keep this in mind for my next day trip! good job x
